Graded 63 by PMG and certified with number 1996536-005, this banknote is in impeccable condition The bank was authorized by the General Assembly in February, 1860. The bank's headquarters was destroyed during the fire that swept portions of Richmond when the city fell in April, 1865. For all intents and purposes, this severely curtailed the bank's existence. The bank published a Statement of Condition as of April 1, 1866 that showed a balance sheet grossly over-weighted with Confederate securities and notes. The statement indicated that the bank's outstanding circulation was to be redeemed in National Currency at the rate of 30¢ on the dollar.

Printed by ABNCo, the note features a center vignette of a slave caring for horses flanked by a portrait of Washington and a vignette of a young child holding flowers. The note has two green X protectors and two green and black denominational counters.

It is printed on India paper mounted on card with the usual POCs in the signature spaces.
